So I’ve been working two jobs. Well, technically, it’s two positions at the same workplace.

Three days a week have been on the computers, doing, eh… all sorts of stuff, playing the catch-all guy for most computer-related stuff around the Club, with most of my time spent on the e-newsletter and doing what I can on this patched together mess of a website. The other two days a week, I work an evening shift in the Deli here. Customer service and all the fun that goes with it. To make things worse, they still haven’t replaced me permanently in the Deli (I used to work it 5 days), so occasionally I have to forego a day on the newsletter and spend my evening explaining the intricacies of an oriental chicken wrap. Bleh.

Well no longer! I just found out this morning that they want me on the computers five days a week. For the first time since graduating college two years ago, I am going to work a bona fide, forty-hours-a-week, eight-in-the-morning-to-five-in-the-afternoon job. Dull it may be, but real it is as well. And much better than mindlessly serving up sandwiches all day.

Not only that, I’m getting experience, not just with technical skills, but with writing as well (I’m basically the editor of a weekly newsletter), which is really what I want to do in life.

” You have 4684 unread messages”

Ah, now if only my personal email were like that… OK that would actually be quite a headache. It’s just too easy to delete all 4684 emails without having to open a single one.

If you don’t yet have a junk mail account, I suggest you get one.

It’s Gonna Be a Bright Sunshiny Day

March 4, 2005

Wow. Sunshine nonstop. This is incredible.

Let me explain: I live in Spokane. In the Inland Northwest, where winters are grey. Always. I’ve been here for over 13 years now, and it has always been nonstop grey skies from December through March, often even into April. On average, I would say three to five days of sunshine all winter long.

Yet it has been bright and sunny five days a week for the last month and a half. We’ve even had several days warm enough to drive around with the windows open! This never happens in February and March. We had a one-week arctic blast, with several feet of snow, and that’s it. As far as I’m concerned, it can keep it up as long as it wants.
